Common sewer and drain problems
- Several drains slow or backing up at the same time
- Water coming up in a floor drain, tub or lower toilet
- Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
- Sewage smell inside or in the yard
- Soggy or sunken spots over the sewer line
- Tree roots growing into older pipe
Your side sewer is your responsibility
In most of the Seattle area, the property owner owns the side sewer pipe running from the house out to the public sewer main. Older clay and concrete side sewers crack, separate at the joints and fill with roots over time. When that happens, the fix is a repair or replacement of the damaged section — not just another clearing.
What Zoltan does
He clears the blockage, figures out why it happened, and explains your options in plain terms. If a section of pipe is broken, he can replace it. Where a permit is required, the work is done to code.
Preventing the next backup
A lot of drain trouble starts in the kitchen and bathroom. Grease poured down the sink hardens in the pipe, and wipes labeled flushable do not break down the way toilet paper does. Keeping those out of the drains, and dealing with roots before they block the line completely, goes a long way. If backups keep coming back after clearing, that is a sign the pipe itself needs attention.
